What to Expect

Woodley Gardens Veterinary Care veterinary services – delivered with courtesy and respect.

As a new or returning client of our animal hospital in Rockville, Maryland, you can expect our full attention to your pet’s needs.

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and a nurse will escort you into an examination room after checking in with the front desk staff.

A scale is available in the waiting room for larger dog’s to be weighed, but small dogs and cats can be weighed in the exam room, on a smaller scale.

In most cases, one of our veterinary nurses will start by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit, gathering this information for the doctor.

One of our veterinarians will then examine your pet, ask you further questions and discuss your pet’s care. Depending upon the type of visit, your doctor may recommend diagnostic tests. Once the tests have been run, which can usually be done in the practice, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan if warranted.

This is a great time to ask questions. You have our undivided attention in the exam room. Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing.

Our veterinary nurses will likely return to wrap things up and will provide you with helpful pet care information and answer any other questions you may have. Our front desk staff will process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up appointments.

Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible, and appreciate your understanding.

COVID-19 Update – Effective May 7th, 2020

Dear Woodley Gardens Veterinary Care Family,

With the new order issued by Governor Hogan, we are now able to resume full services again, including wellness visits and elective procedures such as spays, neuters, and dental cleanings. In order to keep our valued clients and caring team healthy and do our part in social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will continue to follow our adjusted protocols for the hospital.

We will continue to only allow pets into the hospital. Clients will have the opportunity to Zoom video conference into their pet’s exam, or the doctor will call you on the phone after the doctor has completed the examination if you do not want to use Zoom. You may view the complete protocol here.

We already have rigorous cleaning protocols in place for the hospital, and we have increased the frequency of these cleanings as well. All team members wear masks and gloves, and also wash their hands following CDC recommendations with soap and water before and after each exam. Anyone feeling ill for any reason stays home, and all team member temperatures are taken prior to each shift. The additional measures taken are for the safety of our clientele and our team so that we can continue to serve the needs of our patients and our community that we love. We highly recommend for clients to wear masks and ask if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms to find your pet alternative transportation and alert staff that your pet is coming from a COVID-19 positive household.
